Women in Leadership in ELICOS

The Women in Leadership in ELICOS initiative was begun in 2015 by the then Professional Support and Development Officer at English Australia, Aparna Jacob, as a way to start a discussion about women who work in leadership roles in the ELICOS sector. With initial support of influential female leaders in ELICOS, such as Sue Blundell, former Executive Director of English Australia and Helen Zimmerman, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at Navitas, the program has continued to gain momentum.

English Australia has hosted a series of Women in Leadership webinars presented by influential female leaders in ELICOS and the international education sector including  Ruby Biscuit, Campus and Sales Marketing Manager, MEGT Education Group and Sheree Millen, Director RMIT English Worldwide (commencing in February 2017).

A Women in Leadership workshop entitled 'Women's Business Empowering Women in ELT Management' and convened by Aparna Jacob, Education Manager (University Pathways) at the Centre for English Teaching, the University of Sydney,  was run at the English Australia Conference and the success of the workshop and interest shown in it by both women and men has proven that this is an important discussion to continue. You can view the slides from this workshop (Introduction, Assertive Communication & Negotiation) as well as the summary of the different group discussions
